Your notes are private by default. This page explains what Asterive keeps, when information is sent to a service provider, and the choices you control.
The short version
Asterive uses information to provide the features you choose, not to make your private library public.
Used to run the app
Asterive keeps the account, content, settings, and usage records needed to save, sync, protect, and support your workspace.
Choices stay separate
AI assistance, remote embeddings, recording transcription, and public sharing each have their own action or setting.
When information leaves Asterive
Ordinary note editing does not publish a note or send it to an AI provider. These are the actions that can involve another service or another person.
When you ask for AI help
Asterive sends your prompt and limited selected or retrieved context to the AI provider for the model you choose. Private chat sends only the text you enter and does not retrieve your notes.
When you enable an optional AI setting
Remote embeddings and automatic recording transcription for search are off by default. If enabled, relevant source chunks, queries, or admitted recordings may be sent to OpenAI. Image and scanned-PDF OCR runs locally.
When you create a share link
Anyone with the unguessable link can view the note and its currently referenced files until the link expires, is replaced, or is disabled. Copies already downloaded cannot be recalled.
When you use login, email, support, or billing
The minimum information needed for the request is handled by the relevant service. Asterive keeps provider references and records needed to confirm access, delivery, payment, support, and account status.
Services used today
Asterive currently uses these providers for specific parts of the product. The list reflects the services in use today.
Plausible Analytics (when enabled)
Measures public-page visits, campaign sources, and signup milestones without analytics cookies or account identifiers.
AWS
Hosts Asterive's production infrastructure and stored service data.
OpenAI
Processes requested AI answers, remote embeddings, and audio or video transcription.
DeepSeek
Processes requested text-only AI answers when you choose a DeepSeek model.
Stripe and NOWPayments
Handle card or crypto checkout and payment confirmation when that method is available.
Brevo
Delivers account verification, password reset, and other transactional email.
Provides optional Google sign-in when it is configured and chosen.
How long information is kept
While you use Asterive
Account data, notes, files, settings, and service records are kept as needed to provide the account and the features you use.
After confirmed deletion
Access is disabled immediately. Live notes, files, AI data, and queued work are targeted for deletion within 7 days; restricted backups age out within 35 days.
Records kept for longer
Minimized payment records may be retained when needed for tax, accounting, refunds, fraud prevention, or legal claims. Provider copies follow the provider's own terms.
Your privacy controls
You can change optional processing, take a copy of your notes, or leave Asterive.

Take your notes with you
Export individual notes or download a portable archive without giving up ownership of your content.
Delete your account
Email-code confirmation disables access immediately and starts permanent account deletion.
